Share time again…

I had this originally posted over in the notes section on this project in ravelry as I didn’t know at the time how to share any patterns I muddle out.   But now I know how I can share this with you all as this was my 1st attempt at creating a pattern for a piece of clothing I am interested to see if someone else can follow it and reproduce it themselves.  
Pattern orginally started in April 2011 but paused.  Restarted the 5th September and completed on the 13th September.
Anyway here’s the pattern:

Phoenixphyre Dreams Crochet Over-top

  • 6mm hook
  • 3 balls of 50g yarn between 8ply to a thinish 12ply but no thicker (4 balls to make sizes L and XL)
  • yarn needle.
  • NOTE: The yarn I used for this pattern was 3 balls of Panda Amber yarn – Bulky / 12 ply, 70% Wool, 30% Acrylic,115 yards more about this yarn can be found here on Ravelry.com .

KEY:
Tr = Treble Crochet
Dc = Double Crochet
Sl St = Slip Stich
Ch = Chain
Rp = Repeat

SIZING:
30inches for chest size Small
37½ inches for Large Size
40½ inches for XL size.

FRONT:
chain 74 (XL size) (chain 50 Sml size) (chain 68 L size)
ROW1: Tr in 3rd ch from hook, Tr in next 2 ch, #ch 3, skip 3ch, Tr in next 3ch; Rp from # to last 4ch, ch3, skip 3ch, Tr in last ch. – 12 3Tr groups.
ROW 2 to 27 (Row 25 for small, Row 26 Large): Ch4 (counts as a Tr), turn, 2 Tr in first 3ch space, #ch 3, skip 3 Tr, 3 Tr in next 3ch space; Rp from # to last 3 Tr, ch 3, skip 2Tr, Tr in top of beginning Ch.
Fasten off.

BACK:
Ch 92 for XL size, Ch 74 for Sml siz, Ch 86 for L size
ROW1: Tr in 3rd ch from hook, Tr in next 2 ch, #ch 3, skip 3ch, Tr in next 3ch; Rp from # to last 4ch, ch3, skip 3ch, Tr in last ch. – 12 3Tr groups.
ROW 2 to 27 (Row 25 for small, Row 26 Large): Ch4 (counts as a Tr), turn, 2 Tr in first 3ch space, #ch 3, skip 3 Tr, 3 Tr in next 3ch space; Rp from # to last 3 Tr, ch 3, skip 2Tr, Tr in top of beginning Ch.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
LOWER EDGING: With the wrong side showing, sl st in the 1st st on last row of the back, ch 1, #3 dc in the next 3-ch space, dc in the next 3 Tr; repeat from # along the last row of front, sl st in first st to join.
ROUND 1: Ch 1, dc in each dc around, sl st in 1st dc to join. Fasten off.
TOP EDGING: With the wrong side facing and working on the opposite edge of the foundation chain of Back, join yarn in 1st st, ch 1, #3 dc in next 3-ch space, dc in nect 3Tr; repeat # across foundation chain of Front, sl st in first st to join. Fasten off.
Sew sides together leaving 11” from top edging for armholes. (10” from top edging for small size).

TIE
Ch 190 for an xl size,  ch 142 for a sml size and ch 178 for a lrg size
ROW 1: dc in 2nd ch from hook, # Tr in next ch, dc in next ch; repeat from # across
ROW 2: ch1, turn, #dc in next Tr, Tr in next dc; repeat from # across. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Thread tie in a.d out of 3-ch spaces along row 1 of top edge.

Finished product should result in looking something like this:
